Day Two: 10/4/16

I wasn't going to blog every day (and won't, for long) but since I'm still getting used to this I might as well track it. Today I'm doing the Vanilla shake, and I've planned better snacks. I have my Boxer Club meeting tonight, so won't have dinner until at least 9 p.m., probably closer to 10, so I'll be delaying everything so I'm not starving all through the meeting.

6:30 a.m. Woke up with a pounding headache -- the one from yesterday never really went away -- so I gave in and took some ibuprofen. Then promptly threw up 1/4 of the peppers from last night's dinner (but not the ibuprofen, interestingly). I don't think that has anything to do with this program -- I've had random bouts of early-morning dry heaves for years, although I don't usually actually vomit.

8:20 a.m. Was finally able to fall back asleep for a bit, and so of course woke up kind of late. Headache is mostly gone, so that's a relief. Have to shower and get shakes/snacks ready for today.

10 a.m. Finally drinking my first shake. The vanilla with the Ionix is not quite as bad, it tastes a bit more like apple and less like banana, although the banana is still there. I also tried using the shaker cup instead of the blender, and it's not nearly as thick. (I'm not sure why that would be, since I only shook up the second shake yesterday, even though it was in the blender jar. It may be a vanilla vs. chocolate thing.) I'm still not getting it down within 10 minutes, but I'm drinking it! (I started to get hungry at about 8:45/9:00, so on a good day I'd have a shake right then and hopefully stave off the hunger pangs. It's now 10:45 and I'm 3/4 of the way through the shake, and the hunger has mostly gone away.)

2 p.m. Snack time, 1 cup of watermelon and 1 cup of grapes. I haven't really been hungry yet, which is honestly a relief. My headache is back, but at this point it's just annoying.

4 p.m. Hungry now. I should have a shake, but have a client coming in so that will have to wait. I'm going to drink a bunch of water and hope that tides me over.

5 p.m. Drinking my shake. Surprisingly I still taste banana; it may be because I'm re-using the shaker, or it may just be part of the vanilla taste. It's not horribly overpowering, so I'm sure I'll get used to it, but still, yuck. ;) I will try some "jazz it up" recipes I've seen, like adding cinnamon and nutmeg, or using orange juice instead of water, frozen berries instead of ice, etc.

6 p.m. Another snack, this one is hopefully going to be filling. Mostly spinach with some romaine, grape tomatoes, and about a tablespoon of cashews, with a splash of balsamic vinegar.

10 p.m. Finally home from the meeting and eating dinner. I was fairly hungry by the time I got home, but made it through the meeting fine and didn't give in to the temptation of Timbits. ;) Dinner was chicken breast with couscous and corn; not as "clean" as I'm supposed to be, but I'm trying to work with what my husband eats, too, rather than having two separate meals all the time. (Fortunately he's fairly diet-conscious most days, so our meals aren't generally too "bad" anyway.)
